In today’s world we have the opportunity to import super nutritious organic foods from all over the world. We investigate the growing and processing operations of all of our organic food suppliers and we only support sustainable, eco-friendly agriculture. All of our organic product suppliers provide Certification of Organic Production and Handling along with Certificates of Analysis for their products. We test many of our products in approved U.S. labs. Products purchased from China are tested in both China and U.S. labs.
Earth Family Food is also involved in a number of eco-friendly initiatives in our Northern California facility. Projects such as changing all of our jar labels from plastic to paper.
We are also vigorously exploring our options for biodegradable packaging with an adequate vapor barrier to protect our fine foods. Our final goal is to integrate sustainable systems such as solar power, water pumping and more into our production facility. Dried Fruits and Berries
In the remote province of Ningxia, China, Goji berries are both organically produced and wildcraft harvested in a region where people have grown them for centuries.
We have each crop tested in a California lab for over 400 different agriculture and processing chemicals, including Sulfites. This insures the integrity of the product and the standards of our Chinese partners. Unfortunately, due to wide spread application of non-organic fertilizers and pesticides in Ningxia province, all of the organic and wild crafted Goji berries we tested had unacceptable levels of unhealthy and non-organic chemicals. We hope to offer Goji berries again when a crop which tests clean is available.
Please note that almost the entire world supply of Goji berries is grown in China, although called Tibetan Goji Berries by some there is no practical commerical crop of Goji berries from Tibet or the Himilayas.
